Last week we told you about the fresh, faster Nürburgring track times of the Nissan GTR, with video that proves that Godzilla 2012 managed to shave 2.48 seconds off its best lap. We were under the impression that the GTR's new top time wasn't enough to best the Corvette ZR1, but a side-by-side (or rather a top-to-bottom) comparison video of both runs gives us the definitive answer.
Beyond the jump is a video pitting the in-car camera view of the ZR1 (top screen) versus the 2012 GTR (bottom screen). Pay close attention from the five minute mark to about 6:20 into the clip, as the vehicle with the lead loses it for good at this point in the race. Very entertaining little competition, but you'll have to hit the jump and watch to see the winner for yourself.

McLaren: KERS issue made gap larger
McLaren's Martin Whitmarsh believes Sebastian Vettel's dominance of Australian Grand Prix qualifying was due in part to a KERS failure costing Lewis Hamilton time in Q3. Rubens Barrichello hopes that his chances of recovering into the points in the Australian Grand Prix are boosted by the fact that he has several sets of brand new tyres left. The Brazilian threw away the chance to fight for a top ten place in qualifying when he spun early on in Q2, which has left him 17th on the grid for the season-opener. But despite being disappointed at the error that put him out, Barrichello thinks that the fact he has three sets of new tyres left for the race - as he did not run in Q2 or Q3 ? could yet be a boost.

Rumormill: BMW 3 Series GT could actually be new 4 Series

We've heard a few times that BMW is working on a 3 Series Gran Turismo, but a rumor floated at Germany's Auto Motor und Sport claims the GT may instead be an all-new 4 Series. If true, BMW Blog says that a 4 Series could be offered as a four-door coupe that would help BMW compete with offerings like the A5 Sportback. The move would also enable BMW to offer a more stylish vehicle that slots well below the 6 Series in price while still demanding a premium over the 3 Series. And keep in mind that BMW has already green-lit the 6 Series Gran Coupe, which will feature two-door styling and four physical doors when it arrives in 2012.
Given that Audi has feverishly expanded its lineup the past few years, we wouldn't blame BMW for countering with a 4 Series, but this is the first we've heard of it, so we'll keep this one squarely in the rumormill category for now.

The 2011 Equus proves that Hyundai has the Lexus LS 460 in its sights by offering the best value proposition in the luxury flagship segment. We're eager to see how Hyundai's new range-topping model stands up to the day-to-day rigors of American life, and so we've just added one to the Autoblog Long-Term Garage.
Our Equus is the fully loaded Ultimate model in White Satin Pearl, and though it's packed with premium equipment, the as-tested price is only $65,400. The Ultimate trim level adds the four-passenger seating configuration, and no other option packages are available.
Things are pretty luxurious for rear seat passengers, as features like power recline and massage functions have been added, as well as a rear entertainment system, refrigerator, power headrests and illuminated vanity mirrors. And yes, our car does have the reclining right rear passenger seat. Check out our car's full list of equipment on its Monroney.Before we go on, we must confess that we haven't been as regular as we had planned with updates on our other two long-term cars - the Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT and Volkswagen Jetta TDI Street Cup. Hot on the heels of Audi's announcement to use T-Mobile for its future wireless data needs, Ford has partnered with AT&T to provide connectivity to the 2012 Focus Electric.
Nearly every EV or plug-in hybrid coming to market will offer some combination of embedded wireless data and an accompanying smartphone app, and as we saw at CES with our exclusive hands-on of MyFord Mobile, FoMoCo will be offering a similar solution for its all-electric Focus hatchback.
The partnership Ma Bell and the Blue Oval involves an embedded wireless connection in the EV that allows drivers with the MyFord Mobile app to keep track of charging, set specific times of the day to juice up (late at night when electrons are cheap) and receive a variety of notifications, ranging from battery status to maintenance reminders.
MapQuest has been tapped to provide charging station locations, range alerts, trip planning and vehicle location, and the MyFord Mobile app also includes the ability to remotely lock and unlocks doors, heat and cool the interior and download performance and system data. And if your phone doesn't have the app, you can use any HTML5-based or WAP 2.0-supported browser to keep tabs on your EV. Rossi says full fitness some way off
Valentino Rossi believes it could be up to two months before he is back to full fitness following his winter shoulder surgery. Although the Italian has been able to ride at the start of the MotoGP season, he remains in discomfort from the work to fix the injury he sustained in a Motocross crash almost a year ago. Grosjean grabs last-gasp Imola pole
Romain Grosjean grabbed pole position from Sam Bird in the dying seconds of qualifying for the GP2 Asia finale at a sunny Imola. Practice pacesetter Bird (iSport) had looked like he had the top spot wrapped up after moving to the head of the order with 10 minutes to go and then improving his time to a 1m27.384s. Grosjean seemed unlikely to find enough of a gain on his last run to beat the Briton, but the DAMS driver then produced a 1m27.067s on his final lap to repeat his Abu Dhabi pole.

ORECA quickest in final practice
The old-specification ORECA Peugeot set a surprise fastest time in the final practice session before qualifying for the Sebring 12 Hours. Audi had looked set to lead the way until ORECA's Loic Duval put in a 1m48.704s right at the end of the session to take the quickest time by a second.
